SEPTEMBER 20TH BLOG #10

SEPTEMBER 20TH BLOG #10
Everyone  got the memo and arrived at breakfast around 9:30. Refreshed and well nourished we all set off on our separate ways with an ultimate target of reaching the Real Escuela Andaluza (The Equestrian Riding School) just opposite the Sandemann Sherry Bodega. Only 4 blocks from our hotel we all gathered at the front entrance pickup our actual tickets at the “ Will Call” window. No photos or videos allowed during the show which reflected great trust between man and horse. The hour and a half show was exquisite and for only 13 euros a person well organized and worth every cent. Next we made to the 1415 English tour at Sandemann bodega. Our guide a short and cute Spanish lass named Alicia was bubbly and spoke excellent English. We learned about the soil in these parts and how they control the bodega temps when outside it sometimes reaches 110F. But they keep the bodega constant at 24/25C by watering the soil beneath the barrels. The best part is the tasting of samples at the end: 3 different types and ages of sherry: Fino about 5 yrs, 6 yrs old Amonotillado, and 7 yrs old Oloroso the sweetest and darkest in color.  Next everyone hit the shops before heading back to the hotel. Along the way, Sandy commented that lunch had been overlooked in our two previous activities and food might be in order.  We stopped at a bar with tables out front and everyone went inside to view the limited trays of tapas. Right our order was placed with a friend chap whose father was from San Francisco. Our tapas of various types, beef, lomo, veggies, and drinkies total a whopping 19 euros ut the hunger edge had been cut everyone was ready to make the rest of the way back to our hotel.  After a late rest (siesta) we met again at about 8:00PM  to plan the evenings activities.
John and Judy went out to dinner and Ron, Sandy, Paul and I headed out to find more food. By the way, we are walking about 5 to 7 miles a day, so we need the food for nourishment to keep up the pace! We found a place recommended by one of the receptionists and ordered. Now,  the night before, Paul had a brochetta of chicken which was manageable, our brochettas were huge and hanging from a hook! You really have to ask questions about the food before ordering!
Brochetta de Pollo, small version for 13.00 euros.

Oh well never mind, we did the best we could and it was very good. We went back to the hotel and had a brandy on the Plaza opposite where a trio was playing Beatles’ songs. They were very good. Talk about a gallop down memory lane!!
Off to bed! A good day.
